Super Sleuth Test #2

Lt. Columbo was cruising in his boat when he came to the Isle of Deceit, a place where the natives always lie and the visitors always tell the truth.  As Lt. Columbo drew near, he saw 3 girls getting into a fishing boat on the shore.  He asked them, "Are you natives or visitors?"  The first girl called out, but the Lieutenant hadn't turned off his motor, so he didn't hear the reply.  Lt. Columbo shouted his question to the second girl, and this time she answered saying, "She said she was a visitor and so am I."  The third girl on shore quickly shouted, "That's not true, these girls are natives, but I am a visitor."

Lt. Columbo immediately knew who was a native and who was a visitor, from their responses.  How could he know this from what they were telling him?
